AMD Server Platform team is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the Power/Performance analysis and optimization for customer server platforms. PPO team is responsible to work with global teams on feature enablement and optimization, issue debug, power measurement and customer support.
AMD is looking for a highly hardworking engineer to join our Datacenter Solution Engineering team as an overall specialist in platform optimization. This will be an exciting and critical customer facing role in the engineering team where you will be responsible for working with end customers and ODM/OEM's to help build and optimize solutions on AMD EPYC platforms.
• Power/Performance optimization for Server products
• Develop test plan and execute Power & Performance Testing efficiently with automation test environment
• Drive cross function team to debug and solving system level issues
• Responsible for post-silicon activities related to Power/Performance targets
• Co-work with design team (SOC, IPs owner, Power Arch) to analyze the pre-silicon data vs post-silicon data, to improve accuracy on pre-silicon.
You will be a member of a best-in-industry solutions engineering team and will work with heterogeneous hardware platforms, software solution stacks and end-applications based on groundbreaking technology. You will be responsible for understanding and optimizing software, firmware, and hardware. That will require you to be able to understand AMD platform and processor architecture to enable the best performance. You will interact with other specialists in AMD global engineering teams, SA’s, and ISV's worldwide.
This position places a special emphasis on platform and end user workload optimization. You will cultivate a deep technical understanding of x86 server platform and processor SOC architecture, the Linux operating system, common cloud and MDC workloads, and power and performance profiling and monitoring utilities. You will leverage the synthesis of this knowledge to understand application performance from the core to the node to the datacenter to guide the customer.
THE PERSON:
• Strong hands-on technical skills with one or more OS, hypervisors, databases, and/or applications.
• Hands-on technical skills in server hardware platforms
• Knowledge of how end-customers typically deploy both heterogeneous and homogeneous environments
• Knowledge of how cloud datacenters typically deploy their servers
• Solid understanding of server hardware including processors and high-speed IO
• Good familiarity with x86 server processors, silicon architecture, design and debugging
• Ability to lead teams to deliver results for both internal and external customers
• Ability to work in a multi-site, multi-cultural environment and the ability to travel as needed

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• This position will be a subject matter expert for x86 server workloads and how to tune AMD Server processor-based systems for optimized power and performance.
• The engineer will be needed to look and tune all the way from BIOS up to application and everything in between (such as OS and middleware).
• Will need to work with server OEM’s / ODM’s on full stack solutions and issues.
• Assuming the lead position in a complex problem solving and debug efforts through multi-people/party steering of tiger teams, hands-on work as well as program managing the effort end-to-end.
• Provide product and technology influential feedback into server product management, systems and SW efforts, AMD technology and product planning.
• Provide business critical engineering enablement for business development to enable design-win expansion.
