Criteria for Candidates: 1. Taiwanese nationals. 2. Holds First-Class Chief Engineer license. 3. Marine engineering expertise: A Chief Engineer on a vessel should have a strong understanding of marine engineering principles, technologies, and regulations. 4. Leadership skills: As a leader, a Chief Engineer should be able to inspire and motivate their team of engineers and other crew members to work together to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. 5. Communication skills: Effective communication is critical for a Chief Engineer working on a vessel. They need to be able to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical crew members and manage expectations effectively. 6. Project management skills: A Chief Engineer should have strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and resources, and to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed. 7. Problem-solving skills: A Chief Engineer should be able to identify and solve complex problems related to the operation and maintenance of the vessel. Job Description (includes, but not limited to the following): 1. Ensures the safe and compliant operation of the vessel, including adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards. 2. Vessel maintenance and repair: A Chief Engineer on a vessel is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all engineering systems, including propulsion, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. 3. Crew management: A Chief Engineer is responsible for managing the engineering crew, including assigning duties, monitoring performance, and providing training and development opportunities. 4. Safety management: A Chief Engineer must ensure that all engineering systems on the vessel meet safety standards and regulations and that crew members are trained in safe operating procedures. 5. Environmental management: A Chief Engineer should be aware of environmental regulations and best practices and ensure that the vessel operates in an environmentally responsible manner. 6. Continuous improvement: A Chief Engineer should continuously look for ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering systems on the vessel, as well as the performance of the crew.
