That means that out of the 5 billion cells there are in 1mL of blood, we are able to detect the very single cell that may give doctors crucial information about their patient. An important application for this technology is developing better treatments to fight against cancer : it allows doctors and researchers to identify precisely the different types of cancer and know what treatment will work for the patient.
