Mechanical Component Engineer (Strategic Sourcing)

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sourcing - seek out potential suppliers; execute strategic sourcing process by creating and executing RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for new and existing suppliers.
- Cost Modeling - to construct detailed cost models/purchase price analysis of products and services, typically this will require supplier visits and detailed BOM analysis to create a complete understanding of the cost structure of suppliers.
- Strategic Analysis - to conduct project analysis that turns the information gathered into insightful, well-structured sourcing options and opportunities.
Establish metrics and tools to monitor progress and supplier scorecards
- Work with Engineering & Project management teams to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure market and cost competitiveness for NPI projects.
- Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost and quality improvements.
- Join all aspects of new supplier bring-up, qualification, capacity planning, cycle time, takt time, yield analysis, assurance of supply and execution to project timelines/schedules.


QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field
- 4+ years of direct experience in strategic sourcing/commodity management/global supply management, with engineer experience is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge and ME sourcing experience related to Networking or Solar or AGV or IOT.
- Experienced in new product line supplier development
- In depth knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes – metal stamping, extrusions, castings, forgings, welding, plastic injection molding.
- Strong analytical skills (i.e. cost modeling, quotation analysis, supplier selection)
- Flexibility to work and achieve goals in a fast-paced start-up environment with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various stakeholders
- Must be willing to travel for 2~4 times annually for periods up to 2 weeks each time.(China, Vietnam, etc.)
