Senior CMF Designer

【Overview】 We are seeking a full-time Senior Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Designer for our Xizhi, New Taipei City location. In this role, you will be responsible for forecasting, developing and implementing color, material, and finish plans for a wide array of consumer products, with ownership of projects that have a higher-than-average level of difficulty, complexity, for which few precedents exist. 【Essential Functions】 • Work collaboratively and professionally with remote and on-site fellow CMF Designers, CMF Engineers, Industrial Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Product Managers to achieve team-based goals and superior results on projects. • Lead development/implementation of CMF solutions across a wide array of consumer products. • Identify and strategize the need for new/refreshed color palettes and create digital/physical presentation materials that communicate CMF design strategies. • Present and communicate CMF strategies to development teams, product managers, sales managers, segment leaders and executive team. • Research and analyze data from trend services to identify shifts in fashion, lifestyle and color that could guide segment-based decisions for Garmin’s product markets. • Direct a team of prototype specialists to create color and material targets. • Own the color & finish matching process with manufacturing and material suppliers. • Initiate discussions with material engineers research new materials and finishes. • Communicate status of work by clearly providing visibility to supervisor, project leads/stakeholders in US and accepts/acts on constructive feedback from coworkers to refine designs and concepts to produce better solutions. • Mentor less experienced CMF designers. 【Basic Qualifications】 • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or in CMF Design AND a minimum of 5 years work experience as a CMF Designer or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • Must demonstrate knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to use tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Keyshot. • Demonstrates proficient knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods including, but not limited to: plastic, silicone, metals, coatings, and more. • Demonstrated strong and effective English verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills including proficient presentation skills. • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others. • Demonstrated ability to autonomously generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet project timelines and high-quality standards.
