Head of Technical Design is responsible for lead the Designers, Pattern makers, 3D operators, Sample room, technical design and complete development process including the fit sessions. Implement necessary processes, work measures, improvements to achieve company objectives to offer the required product & service quality right first time to the customers. Team building and human resource skill development with Training, coaching, guiding, and calibrating.
• Provide technical direction for the product development, design, and systems integration from definition phase through implementation for client engagement.
• Track and identify key trends, analyze to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive for quality.
• Conduct risk analysis to achieve smooth and defect free “PD to shipment” process
• Own the development life cycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout the project for all construction, sewing challenges (including quality of the stitching and ensuring we are using the correct apparatus).
• Manage fit sessions with Design and Product Development; maximize fit session productivity and schedule follow-up fits for corrections as needed with Technical Designers.
• Be able to accurately assess garments for fit, spec, and shape; measure samples, create specs, finalize grading, identify issues with Technical Designers.
• Create and design patterns from first patterns with Technical Designers, pattern makers and 3D operators.
• Fit garments on model, Mannequin or Virtual Avatar to determine corrections and recommend corrections to Designers, with technical designers.
• Identify, coordinate, and resolve corrections/problems with Sample Maker and find corrective actions and prevention methods.
• Identify and communicate styling and fit issues with buyers and Technical designers.
• Evaluate, create, and implement standard grading rules to ensure consistency in fit and contribute actively in terms of fit/principal pattern guidelines.
• Understand and consider relationship between pattern/material usage/yields during pattern creation as it relates to margins.
• Consult and train Marketing, Design, Product Developer on pattern and fit updates and issue resolution.
• Develops training plans and manuals for the global pattern and Product Development teams.
• Work on an ongoing basis on new solutions to reach creative pattern goals, by using new methods and systems and/or new construction.
