Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is currently looking for an experienced Quality Engineer who will have the overall responsibility for measuring, tracking, reporting and protecting TGCS and our customers from products and services that do not meet our specifications. Their involvement begins during NPI (New Product Introduction) activity to encourage new products and designs that equal or surpass the predecessor product quality and continues through the life of the product where the QE will monitor TGCS Production and Supplier performance to ensure all key quality metrics are within acceptable target ranges for performance.
Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Engineer:
1. NPI – Manage complex projects. Provide input on supplier performance and selection during the RFQ process. Conduct audits to ensure line readiness as well as monitor and support defect resolution through all phases of the New Product Introduction. Be responsible for reviewing new process throughput yield and other quality metrics of new production processes and equipment and declaring them Ready/Released to Production.
2. Conducts Supplier audits as a part of ongoing quality monitoring and improvement. Qualifies Supplier and works with them on continuous improvements.
3. Monitors Production and Field performance to ensure targets are being met; drives improvements as necessary; and report in status meetings as required. Has authority to declare 'Stop Ship' as warranted by an out of specification condition. Focal point for field issues, often interfacing with customers and account teams for problem resolution.
4. Document Supplier related issues and drive them back to the Supplier or internal teams for corrective and preventive actions. Work with the Supplier for detailed failure analysis and root cause determination with corrective/preventive action implementation.
5. Provides direction to Fulfillment Centers and FRU Centers for inventory handling, rework / screening as required.
6. Work with the Quality Team in optimizing quality processes and maintain documentation of quality procedures. Involved in any quality procedure related matter and company audits.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
• BS degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering and 6 – 10 years with Quality Assurance Engineering experience.
• Wide-ranging experience/background in an Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering environment around logic design as well as Supplier management using professional concepts, quality principles, and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
• Demonstrated ability to be involved with multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic high-tech environment.
• Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.
• Adept at design and office tools such as the Power Point, MS Word, and Excel, Teams, SharePoint.
• Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Demand Flow.
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to technical leadership and management.
• Resolves and /or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
Preferred Skills:
• Certifications an advantage including Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, Six Sigma.
• Demonstrated specialized technical knowledge and leadership, and application of that knowledge in an innovative manner.
• Proven ability to and independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously, solve problems, lead projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex assignments using independent judgment and with limited supervision.
