Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Provide mechanical engineering analysis expertise to project teams that are responsible to deliver robust, cost effective equipment, automation and machine systems to Corning’s manufacturing plants and processes.
• Work with project team members to solve automation system and equipment related problems and develop basic understanding of process requirements.
• Defines and documents equipment design specifications, develops equipment design concepts, design and follows construction of prototype and production equipment, conducts proof of concept tests, collects and evaluates data, and makes engineering recommendations.
• Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated equipment systems to the internal customers on-time, on-budget, and in satisfaction of process performance measures.
• Actively participates in system integration, check-out, installation, debug, production start-up, and training of plant personnel.
• Supervise the team to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other technical problems on production machinery and facility systems. Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.
Required Experience & Skills:
• 5+ years of experience in maintenance engineering roles or automation system design and engineering
• Experience in manufacturing or production
• Experience as project leading experience
• Good commanding on automation equipment design and process equipment integration
• Familiarity with maintenance management software and tools
• Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner
• Good problems solving and analytical capabilities (particularly statistical analysis).
• Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
• High initiative, able to work with a minimum of direction, and able to work in team environment
