Purpose of this role:
The purpose of this role is to design to act as the key facilitator between Corning and its customers in Automotive Infotainment system and other Automotive glass solutions industries on managing technical issues/requests, and APQP process.
Role and Responsibility:
1. Ensure smooth sampling during NPI stage to APQP; lead sample spec (CRD),
customer evaluation process
o Understand customer product requirement and project information
o Leverage internal resources for leading sample spec definition
o Closely follow up and timely update customer evaluation process
o Proactively respond and highlight if any potential risk for design in
o Work with Project Manager for completing APQP process and move the
project to SOP
2. Ensure quick, thorough resolution to quality issues/technical requests for SOP
products
o Identify and define problem
o Deliver solutions to resolve issues promptly, execute and monitor recovery
actions until closure with desired results
o Identify customer return issues and clarify the responsibility for approval of
compensation
o Resolve, clarify and suggest disposition of returns for manufacturing and
quality action
o Set up priority, track and follow-up until the issues are resolved
o Present customer issues at Corning internal Engineering and Quality review
3. Be skillful in delivering and gaining feedback from the value proposition
o Identify overall/ product trend/ technology trend/ needs in cover glass at
customers
o Promote Corning’s technology advantages and capabilities and prioritize
these advantages according to customer requirements and concerns
o Develop and document thorough understanding of customers’ processes
from a product, design development and manufacturing perspective
o Lead platform design in and qualification process at customer side
o Work with Product Engineer for platform assessment and rational spec
setting
o Coordinate customer quality & technical audit and customer visit
4. Define customer’s requirements for key product attributes in Taiwan
o Ability to translate customer requirements into glass specification
o Work with PE to translate those requirements into a set of product attributes
that can be accurately measured
o Anticipate the potential challenges for meeting the specification, and work
with PE to evaluate solution ahead of time
5. Customer relationship engagement and network bank establishment
o Establish strong linkage customer and account manager to align with
account strategy
o Build strong multi-level relationships with customer key persons & potential
partners
Knowledge skills and experience required:
1. In depth knowledge of the Automotive glass solutions and infotainment system
industry and products
2. Proven technical acumen and experience in process engineering, application
engineering and engineering support management, preferably in Automotive
glass solutions or infotainment system industry
3. Experience in glass materials and finishing specific to the Automotive glass
solutions or infotainment industry preferable
4. Bachelor’s degree or above in engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Chemical &
Material)
5. Fluent in spoken English and good command of written English
6. Be comfortable in matrix organization and is able to adopt himself/herself for
cross-region communication
7. >5 years’ experience in related field
