Job Purpose
The Merchandising Manager / Assistant Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing and executing merchandising strategies for diamond and fine jewelry collections. This role oversees product assortment planning, purchasing, inventory control, and sales analysis to ensure alignment with brand positioning, customer demand, and market trends. The role also collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive product development and market initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandising Strategy & Assortment Management
1. Develop annual and seasonal merchandising strategies and assortment plans across categories, price segments and regions.
2. Monitor market trends, customer preferences and competitive activities to guide product planning and development.
3. Lead the new product development process, coordinating with Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure timely launches.
Purchasing & Inventory Management
1. Oversee purchasing decisions and vendor negotiations to ensure stable supply and cost optimization.
2. Establish inventory management strategies to improve stock turnover and address slow-moving items.
3. Review sales and inventory data regularly to implement replenishment and transfer strategies.
Sales Analysis & Performance Management
1. Analyze sales performance by category, price point, channel and region, providing actionable insights.
2. Set annual and seasonal sales forecasts and merchandising KPIs, monitoring achievement progress.
3. Partner with Retail and Marketing teams to enhance product performance and customer experience.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Leadership
1. Collaborate with Retail, Visual Merchandising, Marketing teams to ensure consistent merchandising execution.
2. Manage, coach and develop the merchandising team to strengthen capability and performance.
3. Represent the region in HQ/Regional merchandising meetings, providing market insights and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Marketing, Business Administration, Fashion Management, or related field.
Experience:
1. Minimum 5 years of merchandising/buying experience in jewelry, luxury goods, or watches, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
2. Knowledge of diamonds, fine jewelry, luxury is a strong advantage.
Skills:
1. Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
2. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, ability to prepare professional reports and presentations.
3. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
