As our QA Manager - Mechanical Engineering, you will own the quality and reliability of the mechanical aspects of our consumer electronics products. You will leverage your expertise in HALT, ORT, failure analysis, and test planning to develop and implement robust QA processes that proactively identify and resolve potential issues. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality, reliable products that exceed customer expectations, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
【Key responsibilities 】
• Develop and Implement QA Strategies: Create and execute comprehensive test plans for mechanical parts to ensure product quality and reliability from New Product Introduction (NPI) through mass production.
• Lead HALT and ORT: Oversee Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) and Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT) to identify product weaknesses and improve durability.
• Drive Failure Analysis and CAPA: Conduct root cause analysis of defects and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
• Manage Supplier Quality: Oversee supplier quality assurance processes, including audits, inspections, and improvement initiatives, to ensure consistent component quality. Collaborate with suppliers on DFMEA and PFMEA review activities.
• Enhance Product Reliability: Contribute to both "Mechanical Reliability Tests" and "Ongoing Reliability Test" initiatives to enhance product quality and reliability throughout the product lifespan.
• Qualify Production Lines: Cooperate with Kobo Mechanical R&D to qualify both enclosure and device production lines.
• Ensure Compliance: Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, CE, FCC, UL).
• Champion Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce failure rates, and optimize QA processes.
• Monitor and Report Quality Metrics: Track and report on key quality metrics, including defect rates, reliability performance, and customer feedback, to identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee Mechanical Part QA: Develop and implement QA plans for mechanical parts, including incoming inspections, dimensional measurements, material analysis, and functional testing.
• Provide On-Site Support: Offer on-site support to resolve quality issues during manufacturing and assembly.
• Maintain Quality Documentation: Manage the documentation of test procedures, results, and quality standards to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Stay Current with Industry Trends: Continuously update knowledge of emerging technologies, testing methodologies, and industry trends to enhance QA processes.
【Preferred Skills and Qualifications】
• Experience with IoT (Internet of Things) devices, smartphones, or tablets.
• Proficiency with statistical tools: Process Capability Index (CPK), Minitab/JMP (or Excel equivalent), building control charts, statistical quality control procedures, and analysis/graphics tools for monitoring quality control processes.
• Hands-on experience with materials and processes such as injection molding, Mg-Al die-casting, CNC machining, spray paint finishing and IPX-8 mechanical or chemical waterproof requirement.
• Knowledge of advanced quality standards such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks Simulation, or Catia).
• Proven experience working with suppliers in the Asian Pacific region.
【Work Environment】
• This role offers a hybrid work option, with time split between the lab and on-site at vendor facilities.
