THE ROLE
SEMI is looking for an experienced Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst to own the Asia/Pacific (including China) coverage of the World Fab Forecast (WFF) and to lead/contribute to SEMI’s foundry market research program. This role maintains line-by-line fab project data and capacity forecasts, builds foundry market analyses and reports, and partners with regional offices and external stakeholders to deliver timely, high‑quality insights to our customers and internal teams. This full‑time exempt role reports to the Sr. Director, Market Intelligence. Location in APAC preferred (Taiwan/Hsinchu, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, or Singapore).
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
World Fab Forecast (APAC ownership):
• Maintain and enhance WFF line-by-line records for APAC (China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia): project status, timelines, technology/node (≤7nm through legacy), product type, equipment move‑ins, ramp schedules, capacity (wpm), and investments.
• Publish quarterly updates aligned with global WFF release cadence; deliver clean, documented outputs with change logs, and reconcile historical vs. current versions.
• Triangulate company announcements, filings, supplier checks, and local media to validate assumptions; build and maintain “new fabs / expansions” watchlist.
• Produce fab research roll‑ups and narratives (e.g., APAC vs. global capacity growth, equipment spend mix, node share shifts, and greenfield vs. shell projects).
• Work closely with SEMI’s US-based fab research analyst for daily updates, and collaborate with marketing teams to align messaging, share insights, and support joint initiatives.
• Coordinate with SEMI’s global research team and regional offices to accelerate data collection and validation; support member inquiries tied to Fab research.
Foundry Market Research:
• Develop and maintain datasets and slides on foundry market research, including utilization, capacity by region and by node, revenue by customer region/application, supplier capability maps, and technology roadmaps.
• Draft quarterly analyst notes summarizing key inflections (AI/HPC demand, AP capacity adds, policy impacts in China, etc.) and brief internal/external stakeholders.
• Answer client questions and support custom data cuts; present findings at conferences, webinars, and customer meetings.
• Draft press releases and contribute to public-facing communications that highlight key research findings and product updates.
Data, Modeling, and Delivery:
• Own models linking fab projects to capacity, investments, and timelines; implement QA checks, version control, and peer review.
• Deliver clean Excel pivots/Power Query outputs and presentation‑ready charts; document assumptions and maintain change log.
• Partner with adjacent SEMI programs (equipment, materials, assembly/test, sustainability) to ensure cross‑product consistency.
• Present research findings at internal briefings, external conferences, and webinars; tailor messaging for executive, technical, and customer audiences.
Marketing and Administrative Support:
• Support product launches and press releases with data highlights and visuals; contribute content to product pages and blog articles.
• Collaborate with sales on pipeline opportunities, demos, and proposal language for custom research related to WFF and foundry topics.
