Key Responsibilities:
• Own the optical design, integration, and qualification of camera systems used in high-performance drones.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and firmware teams to ensure seamless system-level performance.
• Define and validate lens, sensor, and module-level specifications, ensuring optimal image quality and alignment.
• Work closely with contract manufacturers and component suppliers in Taiwan and the broader APAC region to
ensure production consistency, process capability, and quality control.
• Develop and oversee camera assembly processes, including optical alignment, calibration, and end-of-line testing.
• Diagnose and resolve complex image quality or optical performance issues using lab and field data.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and ramp-up activities, including DFX, EVT/DVT/PVT, and supplier
readiness.
• Participate in design reviews and provide critical feedback on optical tolerances, materials, and manufacturability.
• Provide expert guidance on optical trade-offs, imaging pipelines, and sensor selection.
• Coordinate with global engineering teams, with some flexibility to support overlapping USA hours.
Requirements:
• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, Imaging Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in optical system design, testing, and manufacturing, preferably for imaging products (e.g.,
drones, cameras, mobile devices, AR/VR).
• Deep understanding of lens design, camera module integration, optical tolerancing, and sensor alignment.
• Hands-on experience with Zemax, Code V, LightTools, or equivalent optical simulation tools.
• Familiar with MTF, SFR, distortion, chromatic aberration, and other key imaging metrics.
• Experience working with CMs or ODMs in Asia on high-precision optical assemblies.
• Strong understanding of optical manufacturing processes, from prototype to mass production.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug optical and image quality issues in a fast-paced
environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in drone, aerospace, or consumer electronics industries involving embedded camera systems.
• Familiarity with ISP tuning, HDR, autofocus systems, and camera module testing.
• Knowledge of laser systems, structured light, or multispectral imaging is a plus.
What We Offer:
• A chance to shape the next generation of autonomous aerial imaging systems.
• Work in a role that blends high-precision optical design with hands-on manufacturing collaboration.
• Be part of a fast-moving, technically elite team pushing the boundaries of drone-based vision.
