Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Motor Driver Engineer with hands-on experience in motor control firmware, embedded systems, and hardware-software integration. You will be responsible for developing motor driver systems for BLDC, servo, stepper, and direct drive motors across various high-precision applications. Candidates with RTL/VHDL and Linux experience will have the opportunity to participate in advanced FPGA or system-level integrations.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and optimize motor driver systems for BLDC, servo, stepper, and direct drive motors
* Select appropriate materials for rotors, stators, magnets, and insulation systems
* Implement motor control algorithms (FOC, PID, vector control, speed/position loops)
* Write and maintain firmware in C/C++ for various MCU platforms (STM32, TI, NXP, etc.)
* Integrate encoders, current/voltage sensors, and feedback loops into control systems
* Collaborate with hardware engineers to design PWM outputs, gate drivers, and protection logic
* (Optional) Contribute to RTL design in VHDL for FPGA-based motor control systems
* Support integration and debugging in embedded Linux environments (kernel, drivers, etc.)
* Perform system bring-up, signal analysis, and functional verification using lab equipment
* Document control logic, tuning procedures, and system architecture
* Work closely with cross-functional teams: motor design, mechanical, and embedded software
* Stay up to date with global motor industry trends, standards, and emerging designs
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field
* 3+ years of experience in motor control system development and embedded driver implementation for both conventional and direct drive motors
* Solid understanding of motor theory: magnetic circuits, torque generation, back-EMF, cogging torque
* Hands-on experience with FEA tools for motor analysis (ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, etc.)
* Familiarity with control strategies (FOC, PID, vector control) and motor driver ICs
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes related to motor winding, stator laminations, and rotor assembly
* Ability to interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, and tolerance stack-ups
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in precision positioning systems or robotics (e.g., gimbals, CMMs, CNCs)
* Experience with encoder integration, backlash elimination, and resonance control in DD systems
* Knowledge of international standards (IEC, UL, ISO 9001, etc.) related to motor design
* Familiarity with thermal management and noise reduction techniques
* Prior involvement in developing motors for military, aerospace, medical, or industrial automation sectors
Work Conditions
* May require travel to suppliers, test labs, or production sites
* Occasional hands-on work in lab or factory environment with test equipment
* Cross-functional collaboration with international teams or clients
