As a Principal Software Engineer , you will serve as a technical backbone for our speech output software products, working alongside the Senior Software Engineering Manager and junior engineers to drive innovation and execution. You will own critical development and optimization tasks across embedded and cloud-based speech output systems , ensuring high-performance, scalable, and multilingual solutions. Your deep technical expertise will directly influence product architecture, API/SDK enhancements, and algorithm integration.
Job Description
Representative responsibilities/duties will include but not limited to:
Lead core speech output module integration and optimization (voice synthesis, text processing, latency optimization) for embedded and cloud platforms.
Design and optimize high-performance APIs/SDKs , ensuring compatibility, efficiency, and developer-friendly interfaces with high quality documentation.
Implement advanced regression testing (automated pipelines, stress testing) to maintain code quality and stability.
Collaborate with algorithm teams to enhance multilingual speech output models , improving accuracy and naturalness across languages.
Mentor engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps , aligning with product and business goals.
Debug and resolve complex system-level issues in production environments.
Knowledge, skills, and qualifications
Education: MS in CS, EE, AI or related field.
Required/preferred skills:
8+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in speech output/AI or speech-related projects.
Mastery in embedded systems (Android, Linux, RTOS) and cloud architectures (microservices, Kubernetes).
Strong expertise in C/C++, Python, and scripting for low-latency and high-throughput systems.
Proven ability to design scalable APIs/SDKs
Hands-on experience with multilingual speech output pipelines (text processing, acoustic model and vocoder).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
