SUMMARY OF POSITION SCOPE: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Scientist with a strong background in electroplating chemistry to lead the development of advanced electroplating solutions for next-generation semiconductor & advanced packaging technologies. This role will focus on designing and optimizing electroplating baths - including copper for damascene, alloys and tin-silver systems - to enhance performance in damascene and wafer level packaging processes. As a key member of our application-R&D team, you will collaborate closely with both internal teams and external partners, including top-tier semiconductor manufacturers like TSMC. Your expertise in electroplating chemistry, complexation chemistry, and electrochemical testing will drive the development of innovative solutions that push the boundaries of semiconductor manufacturing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop Advanced Electroplating Solutions: Design, formulate, and optimize electroplating baths with a focus on damascene copper, alloy and tin-silver systems for advanced semiconductor technologies. • Collaborate on Co-Development Projects: Work directly with external R&D teams (including TSMC) and internal U.S. teams to co-develop high-performance electroplating products. • Optimize Bath Performance: Investigate and enhance the stability, filling capabilities, uniformity, and material science properties of electroplated films through in-depth analysis • Conduct Experimental Research: Perform hands-on beaker plating, structural analysis, and electrochemical testing (such as cyclic voltammetry) to validate and refine formulations. • Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Provide expert support for resolving electroplating-related challenges in both R&D and production environments. • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including research findings, experimental procedures, and development progress, for both internal and external stakeholders. • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Continuously monitor and leverage emerging technologies and advancements in colloidal, alloy and complexation chemistry to drive innovation in electroplating formulations. REQUIRED DEGREES, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on electrochemistry, colloidal chemistry, or complexation chemistry. • Very strong technical writing and English communication skills - ability to prepare detailed reports and effectively communicate findings. • Hands-on experience in electroplating and electrochemical processes, with a deep understanding of the ECP process in damascene and wafer level packaging. • Strong background in organic & inorganic chemistry, especially as applied to electroplating product. • Proven ability to collaborate in a co-development environment, working with external partners like TSMC and U.S. R&D teams. • Familiarity with electrochemical testing methods, such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), and other characterization techniques is a plus. GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: To provide leadership as the EH&S Manager in Taiwan Hsinchu Plant, to ensure compliance to corporate and local safety and regulatory requirements. Lead site audits, provide guidance to local team members to improve on EH&S controls in the plant, and verify effectiveness of implementation to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. Work closely with corporate EHS team to roll out global EHS initiatives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensure compliance to Corporate EHS Policy, implement actions to drive compliance and improvements. 2. Review any statutory updates, identify relevant EHS requirements, prepare procedures towards achieving compliance to the new statutory requirement(s). 3. Lead and facilitate compliance, EHS and sustainability internal/external audits/surveys. 4. Organize and lead regular EHS inspection, meetings and monitoring of corrective/ preventive actions. 5. Develop procedures, programs to maintain compliance. 6. Review new processes with and lead risk assessments relevant to the new process 7. Responsible for corporate EHS reporting requirements. 8. Lead incident and accident investigation. Follow up on effectiveness of implemented actions. 9. Plan EHS training programs to increase safety awareness especially in a chemical plant. 10. Responsible to review Environmental test reports, implement actions to improve any out-of- control conditions, and follow up on effectiveness. 11. Plan and conduct emergency evacuation drills for the company premises. 12. Responsible to drive CERT emergency response and other necessary rescue protocols. 13. Coordinate and work together with all departments, clients, and vendors/contractors to advise on all EHS related issues. 14. Promote zero accident culture in the company to strive group EHS KPI targets. 15. Work with site operations team, vendors, contractors to inspect machines/equipment/processes for accident prevention program, conducts hazard identifications and risk assessment. 16. Educate and train employees to ensure safety is paramount priority of the job. Guide on compliance and regulatory requirements. 17. Owns the EHS management system and documentation. MR for ISO14001 18. Submission/getting approval of EHS licensing/permits required for the factory. Organize accident investigation and get root cause, corrective actions and track the actions status. 19. Other relevant ad-hoc duties as assigned. Requirements & Qualifications: 1. Degree, preferably in Industrial/ Chemical/ Engineering or equivalent discipline. 2. Minimum 5 years working experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years of experiences and sound knowledge of relevant regulations and legislations 3. ISO14001 lead auditor/auditor certification, familiar with local environmental and safety regulations or standards for a manufacturing environment. 4. Additional certification in HS, occupational safety and health, safety auditing, environmental control, confined space assessment, site incident controller, work height etc. will be added advantage. 5. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. 6. Strong ability to critically think, self-guide, and educate. 7. Excellent leadership and teamwork qualities in a diversified work environment.
