As an IC Validation and Test Engineer, you will be a critical link between design and manufacturing, driving both technical excellence and business success. You will be responsible for the complete post-silicon validation, characterization, and production test development for our state-of-the-art RFID ICs.
Key Responsibilities
Validation Planning & Execution:
* Develop comprehensive post-silicon validation and characterization plans for new RFID ICs
* Execute validation test plans from silicon bring-up through production release
* Define test requirements in collaboration with design, product, and applications engineers
Test Setup Development & Automation:
* Design and build automated test benches using lab instrumentation
* Design custom PCBs and fixtures required for thorough IC evaluation
* Write, execute, and debug test scripts and automation software using Python or LabVIEW to control instruments and streamline data collection
* Implement statistical analysis and data mining techniques for test data evaluation
IC Characterization & Performance Testing:
* Perform detailed characterization of analog, digital, and RF blocks across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) corners
* Validate RF performance and ensure compliance with relevant RFID/NFC standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 18000-6C/EPC Gen2, ISO 14443, ISO 15693)
* Conduct electrical characterization including RF performance, power consumption, and digital functionality
* Test power harvesting efficiency, antenna impedance matching, and load modulation performance
* Measure sensitivity, read range, frequency response, and modulation accuracy
Digital & RF Validation:
* Verify digital logic functionality, timing requirements, and protocol state machines
* Validate memory operations (EEPROM/Flash programming, retention, endurance)
* Test cryptographic and security features implementation
* Conduct EMC/EMI testing and regulatory compliance verification
* Perform boundary scan and JTAG-based testing
* Execute wafer-level reliability monitoring and parametric test methodologies
Production Test Development & Yield Optimization:
* Develop and release robust automated test equipment (ATE) programs for high-volume manufacturing
* Drive continuous yield improvement initiatives through statistical analysis and process optimization
* Create test programs for production testing, ensuring comprehensive test coverage while minimizing test time and cost
* Collaborate with manufacturing partners and foundries on test optimization and cost reduction
* Monitor production test performance and implement corrective actions for yield enhancement
* Support product lifecycle from development through end-of-life with ongoing test improvements
* Implement Design for Test (DFT) methodologies in collaboration with design teams
Customer Support & Business Impact:
* Support customer technical requirements and resolve field application issues
* Collaborate with sales and applications teams to address customer-specific test requirements
* Contribute to product profitability through test cost optimization and efficiency improvements
* Enable successful product launches through comprehensive validation and risk mitigation
* Create application notes, test guidelines, and technical documentation for customers
* Support competitive analysis and benchmarking activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Analysis:
* Lead cross-functional collaboration with design, product, applications, and quality teams
* Analyze test data and identify design issues using systematic problem-solving approaches
* Collaborate closely with IC design engineers to debug silicon failures and drive solutions
* Support failure analysis for customer returns and field issues
* Generate comprehensive validation reports and technical documentation
* Participate in design reviews and provide testability feedback to design teams
* Coordinate with international teams and manufacturing sites for consistent test implementation
