Summary:
We are seeking a people-oriented Director of Engineering to manage and scale our engineering team, focusing on talent development, team dynamics, and operational excellence. This role will partner closely with the CTO, who drives the technical vision and strategy, allowing the Director to focus on fostering a high-performing engineering culture and managing the complexities of a growing team.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and People Management
• Oversee the day-to-day management of the engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
• Mentor and guide engineering managers and team leads to ensure consistent leadership across all teams.
• Develop frameworks for feedback, goal setting, and recognition to keep engineers motivated and engaged.
Talent Development
• Support team members' career growth by aligning personal goals with company objectives and fostering a culture of continuous learning and industry best practices.
• Manage promotions, role transitions, and succession planning to maintain a strong talent pipeline.
Engineering Operations
• Establish and improve engineering processes, ensuring teams operate efficiently and deliver high-quality results.
• Collaborate with the CTO and Engineering Manager to align team resources with technical priorities and product milestones.
Collaboration with Leadership
• Partner with the CTO to translate the technical vision into actionable team priorities and projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives and keep leadership informed on performance, morale, and operational progress.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with a focus on managing people and team growth.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.
• Experience in building scalable processes for performance management, recruitment, and talent retention.
